POP UP SHOP...

Pop- Up Shops... retail of the future?..Orrr not.

One of our newest projects is to create a pop up shop... i wasn't too thrilled on this but it's turned into been quite fun. Basing our Pop Up Shop on erosion an recycling things... finding ways of how people actually recycling objects into clothing or furniture was amazing! I came across a fashion show in China who actually used condoms to make clothes!

I thought this was amazing! Freaky and i would NEVER wear it, but such a brilliant idea!....

Some of the things people make from recycling objects was amazing...

As cute as she is Style Rookie or Tavi what ever you want to call her is meant to be a style guru...Because a 10 year old can put different coloured tights on and a baggy shirt and make it look cool...I personally quite like her blog though, its original! She's cute...

I love these boots. Military/Hobnail boots, there everywhere right now... I found some in All Saints the other day for £165...then noticed a pair in a small shoe shop near me for £20, bargain!

Home time!

The past couple of months have been crazy... theres been new friends, old friends, laughs, tears, tantrums but most importantly we've all been there for each other. I don't think I've had a more stressful 4 months in my life than the previous 4 at uni. I'm glad to have met the other 3 girls because i couldn't of coped without them quite frankly...maybe they couldn't of coped without me?... never the less the term is over and we all passed with flying colours! Congrats' to them all!
The only thing been getting us through this final week before Christmas was going home to relax and re boost for the following year, only to discover 2 sneaky projects to complete...great just what i need, to be hounded by my mother at home and asked 'what you doing?!' 1 million times. But still i was excited to go home and just be in the environment i felt was safe as London is so big i don't think you ever get that feeling there.
So packing up my room was a task,
How many pair's of shoes do you need to take home for 3 weeks?
Stupid question, you need them all! Don't make the mistake of taking the sensible choices, take the risks too!
Battling bags through tubes to Kings Cross was pure hell, people are rude and don't help, what's worse is been sat opposite two men snoring and sleeping and a woman who doesn't speak a word of English, lets say my 3 hours journey home was delightful! At least i had the window seat to keep me company, which wasn't too bad considering it has now been snowing constantly for about 18hours! I arrived at my destination, couldn't find my bag and new
the reunion of meeting my mother again was going to be like a scene from the
Bodyguard... slow motion, tears, background music to set the scene,
all on her side of course, i couldn't wait...ha. The only thing keeping me going was the shopping trip my dad had planned for the day after i got back! Unfortunately we couldn't make it to Newcastle because of the snow, fantastic, great start to things, so instead he made me get the train to our local town, because driving was 'too dangerous' I'll tell you what is 'too dangerous dad', carrying 10 carrier bags while balancing on ice! I'd rather drive thanks! I knew the reason my dad had waited to take me on this so called 'shopping' trip was so i could help him Christmas shop for my mother, plus she had already warned me about this and makes me do it every year since the episode of my dad been let loose to Christmas shop and not having a clue what to buy and coming back with a tool kit and didgeridoo, as you can expect my mother wasn't best pleased unwrapping these on Christmas day. I love that while shopping you can see who is organised and who isn't, who knows what to get and who doesn't, for instance the man who asked the lady in 'House of Fraser'
were he could find 'Christina Dior' As i expect he was looking for 'Christian
Dior'...
we can't all be perfect i guess.
Now I'm home all i want to do is see the girls...sit around our broken heater eating whatever food we can get our hands on, which of late has been the chocolates out of our advent calendars, Christmas was last week according to mine...but still in 3 weeks time we'll be back to reality and once again sat around that heater!

Fashion?!

Katie...

It's come to my attention that when people ask me what i'm studying at Uni & i reply with fashion, i get a blank look and grumble, a face expression like i've spoke to someone in a foreign language 'Fashion?...' Like it's not a normal subject to study, I mean i new from a young age i wasn't going to be a brain surgeon or mathematician because quite frankly i can't stand academic subject, they were my downfall, the bain of my life! I'd much rather draw a picture than work out the equation of x+y=Z... But because i can't work this out doesn't mean im stupid or any less capable of doing tasks, because i choose to learn about the world of fashion it open's your eyes and mind to more exciting and exquisite objects around us.
Who ever said i don't do fashion was mistaken as everything around us evolves from some type of fashion.

I prefer to sit and scribble and sketch, that is my choice and among many other art based students.
So Fashion is a subject and a rather difficult one, for those of you who have just gone 'Difficult?!!' Yes... suprisingly it is! It's around the clock, constantly mind blowing, never stopping working subject, it's always evolving, evolving so much we don't know it... & i enjoy this, anything is possible!
So next time someone looks at me funny when i say i study 'Fashion!' I'm just going to smile and keep my thoughts to myself, god forbid the day they come out...!
